Folks: I've noted this in the comments on the DAP/DPAC story regarding the Blues Festival, but the Herald-Sun's Nancy Wykle has responded to the story to add that Herald-Sun didn't release the news of Buddy Guy's headlining of the event ahead of a press deadline. Wykle notes that the paper received a press release with the headliner information on Monday night without any listed embargo deadline and ran the story on that basis.
As I told Nancy via email and in the comments, I made an assumption on that point based on the press release I received (and presumably what other media outlets received, since I don't think anyone else had the story until after a 9:30am press conference. As Nancy notes, I didn't check the facts on this one. It was a case of making an assumption, and, well, we all have heard the aphorism on what it means when you assume something.
BCR regrets the error.
