Ex-Nashville social services chief Robinson to take reins in Durham

The Board of Social Services tonight approved the hiring of Gerri Robinson as the new head of the county's social services department after a closed-door meeting between the board and the County Commission.

Robinson served four and a half years as head of Metro Social Services in Nashville, an organization that was being restructured for "planning and coordination" of social services delivery by private-sector organizations.

She was forced out of her post earlier this year after some tumult between her and her own board there over the nature of cuts and reorganization to Davidson County's social services programs. (More here and here.)
