It's officially "Whiskey," and Cuban Revolution bows in two weeks
June 09, 2009
Two downtown dining snippets we almost missed in last Wednesday's Herald-Sun:
- As a reader here suggested, the new whiskey bar going in on Main St. at Five Points next door to Toast will, in fact, be called Whiskey. Rhys Botica, one of the partners in The Federal, is the mover behind the venue, which will feature liquors and sixteen draft beers. It's obvious from the decor we spotted earlier that it'll be a classy place, but we can also now confirm it'll be a private one -- as in private membership club, like the Pinhook.
- The week of June 22 is the scheduled debut for Cuban Revolution, the new restaurant in the 'Pose's old digs at American Tobacco. Look for a full bar, seating for 120, and live music -- plus, possibly, salsa lessons.
Any word yet on the opening of Whiskey? I'm awfully parched. Seems from peering inside that they're close...which leads me to wonder if they're just waiting on license(s).

Show me the way
To the next whiskey bar
Oh, don't ask why
Oh, don't ask why
For if we don't find
The next whiskey bar
I tell you we must die
I tell you we must die
I tell you, I tell you
I tell you we must die

Upon closer inspection of the Cuban revolution site and menu...PLEASE dont get caught up in this overpriced quasi-cuban hip spot and think its for real...
