City Council: Residents line up to discuss East Durham development
Durham's new city manager - Part 1: Why Bonfield left Pensacola

The Bonfield chatter continues

As the N&O and H-S reported today, all signs still seem to point to Pensacola's Tom Bonfield stepping up as Durham's newest city manager. Word is that an announcement is scheduled for later today, in advance of Bill Bell's trip to New Orleans for the National Conference of Black Mayors event kicking off Wednesday in the Big Easy.

We've got some feelers out in the Pensacola community to find out more about folks' impression of the long-serving Bonfield there. Some good information's coming back in, and we'll work this evening to piece together more of what Bonfield's track record has been in Northwest Florida.

Bonfield's transition is of course also the subject of discussion over in Pensacola, where Rick Outzen of the city's weekly Independent News hosts an afternoon program on the local news-talk station, NewsRadio 1620. I'll be joining Outzen on their air for a few minutes this afternoon around 2:45pm ET to talk about what Mr. Bonfield may be facing in his new hometown; hopefully we can learn a bit more about his track record in Pensacola, too.
