Military members get free froyo, ice cream, haircuts, and more for Veterans Day

Wednesday the 11th is Veterans Day, and a number of local businesses have written in with specials they're offering to military veterans and/or active duty members of the Armed Forces. If you qualify, bring your ID and enjoy these specials:

• Posh the Salon at West Village is offering free haircuts tomorrow to vets and active military members on Nov. 11. Appointments recommended; visit their web site for more info.
• Veterans and active-duty military members can get a free cup or cone of frozen yogurt from TCBY. Their Homestead Market Shopping Center location on NC54 is participating, as is their Franklin St. location in Chapel Hill.
• And, Cold Stone Creamery is giving vets free ice cream tomorrow to boot. The Patterson Place location has closed for the winter, but the Southpoint store is still open.

I saw that. I happen to be a veteran. But I would guess a lot of us would not qualify for this. A lot of veterans don't have an ID other than what everyone else has. I happen to have a form DD214 (somewhere) which indicates I served and was honorably discharged. But it's not an ID. I would have one, I think, only if retired from the military.
