Regardless of whom you're planning on voting for, I have only one plea for you today: Vote.
BCR has a daily readership that's higher than the total turnout for all early voting days combined, and a monthly readership that significantly eclipses the projected turnout for this election.
C'mon, y'all. I hope every BCR reader will be able to make it to the polls and vote. Regardless of where in the City of Durham you live, you can vote today in the Ward 1 and Ward 2 races.
Nothing would make Durham County elections chief Mike Ashe happier than to report record lines at all the precincts -- which, as a reminder, are open until 7:30pm tonight.
Not sure where to vote, or if you're registered? Look up your voter registration status online. Your precinct number points you back to your polling place; see a list of those here.
We'll be back here later tonight with election results and some early thoughts on the results.
Done
I was # 8 at my precinct at 7:30 this morning. With a very low turnout, your vote counts more!

I'm not registered in Durham ( i moved here this summer from Carrboro) and when i tried to get registered a couple of weeks ago they let me know i wasn't eligible :( You gotta postmark your registration 25 days in advance.

@ John
That 25 day advance is for new registration by mail. One can register in person at Early One Stop Voting. But only then, not on Election Day itself, so too late for you.

Jonn: That's kind of surprising. According to my understanding of the BOE's web site, even though you have to register 25 days in advance of an election, you can do on-the-spot registration via the One-Stop Absentee Voting (though not on election day itself.)
See http://www.durhamcountync.gov/departments/elec/Voter_Registration.html for details.
The site doesn't specify whether that opportunity applies for general election One-Stop only or if primaries are suitable. Or, perhaps, since you mailed in the form you missed out. Still -- sounds like you should be good to go for the General Election.
I'll email Mike Ashe and check in on this.

BCR-Thanks for encouraging the vote!! Voting is the Cornerstone of Democracy. I agree with Joseph F. above.
By law, the cut off for new registrations by mail is 25 days prior to the election. The law also allows same day registration and voting at one stop no excuse absentee voting which ends on the Sat. prior to each election. It is too late to register and vote in today's primary election, but NOT TO LATE to register and vote in the Nov 3rd Municipal election. Please call or email the BOE for more info. 919-560-0700 or elections@durhamcountync.gov

I was voter #11 at my precinct at 9:15 this morning. I hope others follow on this drizzly, gray primary day.

I was #7 at my precinct at around 8:15 AM. To be honest, given the small number of items on the ballot I think there's not much hope for a decent turnout, but I was there anyway.

Oh I forgot to give the time. I was #8 and precinct 29 around 1:30 this afternoon.

# 263 after 7 pm at a precinct which I believe is known for high turnout (& which had two candidates present in person). That's sad.

I went to my polling place to vote (precinct 29) at 6:30 am and 7:20 pm... both times the place was dark. Did I miss something? I really wanted to vote.
