First-annual Piedmont Laureate Word Tasting comes to town Thu.

Did you know that the Triangle has a poet laureate?  We do, and you can meet 2009 Piedmont Laureate Jaki Shelton Green this Thursday from 12:30-1:30pm at, where else, Piedmont (apparently the Green Room was booked -- har, har).

Durham Arts Council is one of four area arts organizations putting on the First Annual Word Tasting, a three-county, three-city, three-meal event featuring a whole day of food and poetry.

Stop on by for delights of the oral and aural variety.

According to the press release:

Green will read selections of her poetry and visit with restaurant patrons during the lunch hour at Piedmont on Foster Street in downtown Durham to celebrate Arts & Humanities Month. The Laureate will also be at the Peace Street Starbucks in Raleigh for the breakfast hour, 8:00-9:00 am, and at Mama Dip’s Kitchen on Rosemary Street in Chapel Hill for dinner, 6:30-7:30 pm.  To attend the Word Tasting, customers simply plan to have a meal at one of the participating restaurants during the scheduled appearance time.  There is no additional charge.

I actually wrote this post (and that joke). I'm not following how that is rude, so you'll have to explain a bit further.
