Bulls to celebrate championship wins with Oct. 21 fan night

Bulls_championship There was a bit of a geographical gap for hometown fans celebrating this year's twin wins by the Bulls -- recipients of the International League's Governors' Cup and the AAA National Championship -- as these victories were won by the Bulls out on the road, in Moosic, Pa. and in Oklahoma City, respectively.

And while ticker-tape parades aren't exactly the typical style for celebrating such victories, the Bulls are planning a one-night celebration later this month in which fans can get up close and personal with the championship trophies and such.

The Bulls have announced their National Championship Celebration, set for Wednesday, October 21 from 6-8pm at the DBAP downtown. Both trophies will be on-hand -- and the first 500 fans will get a chance to have their photos taken with them, in the Bulls' locker room no less.

A free ballpark dinner of hot dogs, chips and soda will also be available for those first 500, along with a commemorative photo of the 2009 Bulls and a chance to meet Bulls players Elliot Johnson and Chris Richard.

Don't forget to bring your baseball gloves, as the lights will be on and the field will be open for fans wanting to toss the ball down on the playing surface.

It's also a chance to sign up on the team's priority list for tickets to next spring's exhibition game against the 2010 Tampa Bay Rays, which will help kick off the Bulls' return to the DBAP in April.

By the way, if you missed seeing the Bulls clinch the national championship -- well, here you go:

Was there ever any word of how the Bulls fans who went to the league championship series got on the priority list for the Rays game? Or, has the team decided to pretend that they never made that offer?

@DRR: Matt DeMargel told me a couple of weeks ago that they are still planning to honor that, and that they're just trying to figure out the logistics of how to do so. I don't think they've got the details worked out right now.

Thanks for that update. I have emailed the Bulls about it, and am a bit annoyed at the lack of a response.

I don't get the impression that the players or coaches will actually attend this celebration - except for the two guys that you mentioned. Seems a little odd to have a victory party without more of the team there.

I was emailed this link and felt compelled to comment. Our ticket system collects all the names of who attended the league championship series, so we know who attended and we absolutely will honor our offer. We are still in the process of renewing season tickets and mini-plans at this time.

In regards to the players that is the difficult part of minor league baseball. Our players were on flights home within hours of us winning the National Championship. Yes, Elliot Johnson and Chris Richard will be at the party since they live in the area. Hope that answers your questions.
