We were driving east on Pennsylvania Ave. -- our GPS unit has a peculiar sense of humor, be it routing us through the Holland Tunnel, then south on the West Side Hwy. and up Manhattan's east side to get from Jersey City to Boston, or in this case shooting us through the heart of the District rather than around us -- when we spotted this car right ahead of us:

Ah, DC, if you only knew what sweet cream- and water-based paletas could do for the soul, you'd give up the HOV lanes and the Beltway politics and the annoyance of Tyson's Corner and drive down to the Bull City for the day. Oh, but bring the Metro with you.
Hands off, DC. Locopops is just one of the things that make Durham great!

Locopops. Locopops. Enough with the Locopops already. Can't a guy enjoy his vacay in peace?
My street leads to store #1 and folks are often seen walking down to get their pops. Morning, noon and night. Strollers. Bicycles. Neighbors on a constitutional. Dinner parties walking down at dusk.
Carolina Chocolate Drops performing outside. Pupsicles. Last weekend, they had a clown. A clown for goodness-sakes!
Sometimes Rosehill Av gets so busy I have to go outside and beg/plea/implore, "OK, people, break it up, break it up please... too much community here." ;)

Hey, that's us! Unfortunately, it's not a sign of a Locopops craze in D.C. - we live 5 blocks away from Loco #1. On our way up to camp in Canada in this pic.
Impressive that two Bull City cars would find each other in the maze of the District though!
