The King's Daughters Inn -- the one-time old age society and home on Buchanan just across from Duke's East Campus, now in the midst of a metamorphosis to a bed and breakfast -- is nearly ready to open, with the project having just passed its building inspection and nearing its grand opening mid-month.
We've followed the project's progress here, from the announcement to its special use permit to the renovations. And now, we invite you to help celebrate the opening of the seventeen room-and-suite B&B at the corner of Gloria and Buchanan, steps from Brightleaf Square and downtown.
The Trinity Park Neighborhood Association and innkeepers Colin and Deanna Crossman are hosting the First Night at the Inn, a celebration of the B&B's completion and grand opening. The TPNA has reserved up to the entire B&B for its first night of operation on Saturday, April 18.
The neighborhood association is auctioning off the rooms through an online auction at www.trinitypark.org/auction from now until April 15. The top 17 winning bidders will get (in descending order of bid) their choice of room for the Inn's first night of operation on the 18th.
Winners will also receive a complimentary gourmet dinner that evening catered by Ilana Saraf; tickets to the dinner, which celebrates the Inn's opening, are available to the public at large as well. (RSVP for the dinner, which is $45 per person, at the TPNA web site.)
Proceeds from this fundraiser go to benefit the Trinity Park Neighborhood Association. (Full disclosure: this blogger serves as the treasurer of the TPNA.)
The Inn will be open to the general public on Saturday, April 18 for tours between 10am and 2pm.
