Linens 'n Things has been in trouble for a while, and finally decided they couldn't salvage the sinking ship. All the stores in the national chain are closing.
The silver lining for shoppers (though certainly not employees hitting a bad economy) is that liquidation sales have reportedly begun at the chain's stores, including two Durham locations: Renaissance Center at Southpoint and New Hope Commons.

Won't the feds bail them out?

Remember the 20% off coupon? If you got one in the mail and used it already, you can go the internet and search for another one and print it out, even if one no longer exists on the L&T website. If you ask the manager, there is no expiration date, and you can use it on most sale items.

Good tips! I'll have to go get some linens and, um, things.

MEH
My advice: wait until they're really clearing out inventory. I went yesterday to look for good prices on shelving units. No sales to speak of -- just lots of "GOING OUT OF BUSINESS" and "NO RETURNS" signs. Lots of signs does not a good deal make.
I think they're counting on a run of people buying stuff, thinking they're getting bargains. It may be different in a couple of days (or with that ubiquitous-for-now 20% off coupon), but for now, it's kind of a bust.

I just went there this a.m. Everything is just 10% off and you CAN NOT use the 20% off coupons anymore.

I also went there this afternoon. Although signs say 10-30% off, all I saw were 10% off. I was ready to show my off-the-internet 20% off coupon at the casher, but there's a sign indicating that they no longer accept LNT or BB+B coupons. Bummer.

The manager at the Southpoint store told me about the 20% coupon last winter, and I bought some nice Emerilware stainless steel cookware with it, at 20% off. At any of the stores, ask the manager beforehand.
If they really are no longer accepting this coupon, and everything's only 10% off, I'd wait until the store really goes under before buying anything.

Almost all items are, indeed, just 10% off.
However, if you're looking for duvets, you're in luck. All duvets are 30% off. I got myself a sweet deal on a duvet.
In tough economic times, duvets are wise purchases, as they will protect your comforter investments.
