Bahama home with downtown design roots on HGTV tonight

From the ABCDDurham listserv comes word that the northern Durham County home of Efrain Zambrana and Dale High will be featured on HGTV's "Beyond the Box" tonight at 9pm.

The home was designed by downtown Durham firm Center Studio Architecture, whose principal Scott Harmon describes the project:

The exterior is comfortably traditional, fitting easily into the rural North Carolina setting. The interior, however, is completely modern, open and unconventional. Strict environmental regulations on the property limited the size of the home's allowable footprint. These constraints led to a vertical orientation, with all three levels connected by a custom spiral staircase. At the apex, a large cupola - with two daybeds - offers 360 degree views of the property. Its unexpected steel grate flooring allows light to flood the level below and enhances the sense of connection between levels.
