"751 South" proposed to bring more development near Southpoint

From the Durham Open Space & Trails commission meeting tonight: News of another new development coming to the Southpoint portion of the Bull City.

City/County Planning staff noted the arrival of a development plan and proposed rezoning for a site just south of I-40 and west of NC 751 -- an extension of the Renaissance Pkwy. axis of redevelopment, essentially. Proposed for the temporarily-named "751 South" development: residential and retail space, plus a hotel site.

The project -- unrelated to the earlier-announced idea of a dense mixed use development at 751 and Fayetteville adjoining the Chancellor's Ridge subdivision -- has reportedly already drawn some concerns, unsurprisingly, from neighbors.

Look for the development plan to make its way through the review cycle in the coming months before hitting the Planning Commission in late '08 or early '09.
