News for the foodies and gourmands: Parker & Otis down at Peabody Place near Brightleaf Square is holding a big sale this Saturday, dubbed "Otis's Annual Birthday Sale."
Otis, in case you don't know, is the soon-to-be-11 year old pooch after whom one-half of the downtown eatery and store is named. Otis will be hanging out on the porch to meet four-legged friends and people alike from 2 to 4pm on Saturday.
The sale, for its part, will be going on all day, from 7:30am until 7pm. Wine, chocolate, gourmet foods, coffee, tea, beer, and Easter items will all be on sale from 11%-50% off. P&O proprietor Jennings Brody tells us the store is bringing in extra inventory of wines and other goodies for this sale.
Personally, I've really enjoyed having P&O as a new staple of downtown's west side. The lunch crowd is big and growing bigger by the month, and there's a sense of community and conversation in P&O that I had found missing at the old Fowler's, which always seemed a little too hushed inside. Be sure to check out the sale if you're around town this weekend.
I love Parker and Otis. Great food and a great staff makes for a good time. You can't beat sitting on the porch and having a beer.
