Unfortunately, a nagging summer cold kept me from the DBAP on Saturday night. Too bad, for I was hoping to get to catch Boston Herald scribe Steve Buckley's visit to the ballpark.
Buckley, you'll remember, riffed on Durham as a 'minor league' town earlier this year, scoffing at the idea of a night out at a Durham Bulls v. Toledo Mud Hens game as the Bull City's only alternative to Duke hoops.
Well, Buckley came down to a Bulls game, and didn't have a half-bad time. Check out today's column to see his thoughts. Kudos to Buckley for taking the opportunity to write what's actually a pretty decent piece on life behind-the-sce nes at the DBAP.
(Darn it all, and just when I was going to use the new-found snark that rained down upon this Boston exile to sniff at the not-quite-Globe quality of the Herald, or its Murdochian past.)
