Well, not really. But Michael Bacon today had a good catch over at his blog, The Bull in Full, after the AP claimed that USA Baseball was a Raleigh-based organization... as opposed to a group that is based in Durham, after significant lobbying to bring them to Durham.
It's an issue that Reyn Bowman and the Durham CVB have taken on, effectively but unfortunately over and over again -- the misappropriation of Durham events, companies and news as happening in the town to our southeast.
Michael hits the nail on the head on one big point -- the media sure gets it when it's bad news:
It would be one thing if this were at least consistent. [USA Baseball] really belong[s] to us, not to the Triangle as a whole or that Raleigh-Durham figment. They are, in fact, as much a part of Durham as Duke is. But did anyone see any bylines for the lacrosse scandal filed from Raleigh? Did anyone talk about Duke as a Raleigh-based university? It would, in fact, make a lot more sense to talk about UNC being based in Durham than USA Baseball being based in Raleigh.
Amen.
